Young children’s learning is often driven by their own interests. Our curriculum planning is flexible to ensure we use their interests to encourage and motivate them to learn.

Children need to spend time outdoors daily to get lots of fresh air, run around, climb, jump, play and develop a lifelong love of exercise. Our gardens are equipped with fun and interesting resources for the children to enjoy.

We arrange resources to encourage the children to play with increasing confidence on their own and with others. They can do this knowing that their key person is there to support them.

Babies, toddlers and young children thrive when they are loved and well cared for. Children are powerful learners and every child can make amazing progress in their learning, with the right help.

We use mathematical language to help children compare quantities, such as ‘more than’ and ‘fewer than’ and phrases such as ‘the green cube is above the blue cube’ and ‘the brown cube is at the top’ to help them understand position, patterning and sequence.

Staff carefully organise enabling environments for high quality play. Sometimes, they make time and space available for the children to invent their own play. Sometimes, they join in to sensitively support and extend the children’s learning.
