Kids Inc York Road Receives Positive Ofsted Inspection! | Kids Inc Nurseries

We are pleased to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection at Kids Inc York Road, which took place in January 2026.

The inspection recognised the welcoming, inclusive and nurturing environment created by our dedicated team, as well as the strong safeguarding culture embedded throughout the nursery.

A Strong Standard For Inclusion

We are especially proud that Inclusion was recognised as a Strong standard in the inspection York Road Ofsted Inspection.

The report highlighted how staff:

  • Swiftly identify and support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities
  • Work closely with parents and external professionals
  • Ensure children who speak English as an additional language remain fully involved
  • Celebrate diversity through community links and cultural events

The inspector noted how children learn about their local community, including visits to care homes and celebrations such as Christmas, Diwali and Grandparents’.

At Kids Inc York Road, every child is valued as an individual. Our team works collaboratively to ensure that no child is left behind and that all children make positive progress, regardless of their starting points.

A Warm and Nurturing Environment

The inspection recognised the strong relationships children build with staff. Children were described as forming warm, trusting and affectionate relationships with practitioners, creating a secure and nurturing environment.

Staff dedicate time to meaningful interactions, supporting children to:

  • Express their emotions
  • Build resilience
  • Develop confidence and independence
  • Feel safe and valued

Children were observed showing kindness towards peers, inviting others into play and offering comfort when needed. This reflects the positive behaviour culture we actively promote across the nursery.

A Broad and Ambitious Curriculum

The Ofsted report recognised that our curriculum places children at its heart and supports progress across all areas of learning.

Highlights from the inspection included:

  • Strong development of communication and language skills
  • Rich mathematical opportunities woven into play
  • Daily outdoor learning supporting physical development
  • Adapted activities to ensure accessibility for all children

Staff were recognised for developing a clear understanding of children’s starting points and tailoring learning experiences to individual interests. This personalised approach helps children build confidence and develop a love of learning from an early age.

Leadership, Reflection and Continuous Improvement

The inspection acknowledged that leaders have a clear understanding of the nursery’s strengths and identified areas for further development.

Ofsted recognised that:

  • Leaders support staff through purposeful supervision
  • Professional development is tailored to individual needs
  • Leaders prioritise staff wellbeing
  • Strong relationships have been built with parents

Parents shared positive feedback about the progress their children have made and the open communication provided by the nursery.

Next Steps and Ongoing Development

As part of our culture of continuous improvement, Ofsted outlined two next steps:

  1. Further embedding new routines to promote children’s independence, particularly during mealtimes.
  2. Supporting staff to more precisely track and extend children’s next steps in learning.

We welcome this feedback and are already working closely with our team to strengthen these areas further.

Safeguarding

We are pleased that safeguarding standards were met, with the inspection confirming that leaders have established an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

The safety and wellbeing of every child remains our highest priority.
