AUTUMN TERM 2019

International Literacy Day – 10.00am to 10.30am, Friday 6 September
To celebrate today we are inviting all parents of Butterflies children to show you how we help and support your children in developing their literacy skills.

Jeans for Genes Day – Friday 20 September
Everyone is invited to wear their jeans for the day. We will have a donations box in the reception area if anyone would like to make a donation to Genetic Disorders UK. The charity support individuals and families affected by a genetic disorder.

European day of languages – Thursday 26 September
We will be celebrating today by learning some new key words from around Europe and talking about the different languages that \re spoken at home.

Rosh Hashanah – Tuesday 1 October
Rosh Hashanah celebrates the Jewish New Year. To mark the end, children aged over two will be trying some traditional apples dipped in honey, talking about why we celebrate Rosh Hashanah and sending home some beautiful celebration cards.

The BIG Draw – 4.00pm to 4.30pm, Thursday 24 October
We will be taking drawing to the next level and are asking all parents for their help. Please join us in making the biggest piece of art work you have ever seen!

Diwali – Friday 25 October
Diwali celebrates the Hindu Festival of Light. To celebrate we are inviting all children and staff to wear their brightest and most colourful outfit. We will also be making cards and Diva lamps to take home.

Ugly Bugs Ball – Thursday 31 October
Every year we hold our annual fancy dress party and pumpkin competition, where all the children can dress up as their favourite spooky character. We will also have lots of fun games accompanied by a spooky menu for the day.

Bonfire Night – Tuesday 5 November
To celebrate bonfire night the children are going to be making (fake!) fireworks using recycable materials. We will also be acting and sounding like fireworks in our garden display.

Remembrance Day – Monday 11 November
To honour the sacrifices and achievements that were made in all past wars we will be making poppies and thank you cards to send to those who gave up so much for us.

Messy play day, Wednesday 25 November
Today is all about messy play. Please send your child to nursery in clothes you do not mind getting messy as we will be having lots of fun with paint, cornflour, shredded paper and anything else that can make a mess

Ladybirds Christmas Carol Concert – 3.45pm to 4.15pm, Friday 6 December
We would like to invite the parents of our Ladybirds children to come in and watch the Christmas concert.

Butterflies Nativity Play – 3.30pm to 4.15pm, Tuesday 10 December
We would like to invite all parents of our Butterflies children to come in and watch their nativity play with a twist!

Christmas Sing Song U2’s – 3.45pm to 4.15pm, Thursday 12 December
We would like to invite all parents of our under 2’s to come in and sing festive songs with your little ones.

Christmas jumper day for Save the Children – Friday 13 December
We are once again supporting Save the Children’s wear your Christmas jumper day. There will be a donation box in the reception area if you would like to make a donation to this worthy cause.

Santa’s Grotto – 4.00pm to 6.00pm, Friday 13 December
All children and parents are invited to come and visit Santa in his grotto and workshop. Santa himself will be there with plenty of presents and Christmassy activities. There might even be a cheeky mince pie and wine for the mummies and daddies.

Christmas Dinner – Tuesday 17 December
We will be holding our Kids Inc traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings at the children’s usual lunch times. There will be Christmas crackers, party hats and plenty of festive cheer.

Christmas Tea Party – 3.00pm to 4.00pm, Friday 20 December
We will be having a special Christmas tea party with lots of yummy food and special visitors including John the Elf.
