AUTUMN TERM 2018

International Literacy Day – 10.00am to 10.30am, Monday 10 September
To celebrate this day we are inviting all Butterflies parents in to showcase how we help and support your children in developing their literacy skills.

Rosh Hashanah – Tuesday 11 September
Rosh Hashanah celebrates the Jewish New Year. To mark the end the children aged over two will be trying some traditional apples dipped in honey, talking about why we celebrate Rosh Hashanah and sending home some beautiful New Year cards.

Jeans for Genes Day – Friday 21 September
Everyone is invited to wear their jeans or denim for the day. Please bring a donation with you on the day.  All of the money raised will go to Jeans for Genes which supports children affected by genetic disorders.

European day of languages – Wednesday 26 September
We will be celebrating this day by learning some new key words from around the EU and talking about the different languages that we speak at home.

The BIG Draw – 4.00pm to 4.30pm, Friday 5 October
We will be taking drawing to the next level and are asking all parents for their help! Please join us in making the biggest piece of art work you have ever seen.

Colour of the Month – Thursday 18 October
This month is pink month! Today all children and staff are invited to wear as much pink as possible.

Ugly Bugs Ball and Pumpkin Competition– Wednesday 31 October
Every year we hold our annual fancy dress party and pumpkin competition, where all the children can dress up as their favourite spooky character and the best carved pumpkin wins a prize. We also have lots of fun games accompanied by a spooky menu for the day.

Bonfire Night – Monday 5 November
To celebrate bonfire night the children are going to be making their own Guy Fawkes using recycable materials. We will also be acting and sounding like fireworks in our very own garden display.

Diwali – Wednesday 7 November
Diwali celebrates the Hindu Festival of Light. To celebrate we are inviting all children and staff to wear their brightest and most colourful outfit.  We will also be making cards and Diva lamps to take home.

Remembrance Day – Friday 9 November
To honour the sacrifices and achievements that were made in all past wars we will be making poppies and thank you cards to send to those who gave up so much for us.

Messy play day, Tuesday 20 November
Today is all about very messy play. Please send your child to nursery in clothes you do not mind getting very messy, as we will be having lots of fun with paint, cornflour, shredded paper and anything else that can make a mess.

A cooking masterclass – 2.00pm to 2.45pm, Thursday 29 November
Join us for an afternoon session of biscuit making with Marge.

Ladybirds Christmas Carole Concert – 3.45pm to 4.15pm, Thursday 6 December
We would like to invite all parents of our Ladybirds children to come in and watch Ladybirds Christmas concert.

Christmas Sing Song Under 2’s – 3.45pm to 4.15pm, Tuesday 11 December
We would like to invite all parents of our under two’s to come in and sing festive songs with your little ones.

Butterflies Nativity Play – 3.30pm to 4.15pm, Thursday 13 December
We would like to invite all parents of our Butterflies children to come in and watch their nativity play with a twist!

Santa’s Grotto – 4.00pm to 6.00pm, Monday 17 December
All parents and children are invited to visit Santa in his grotto and workshop. Santa himself will be there with plenty of presents and Christmassy activities. There might even be a cheeky mince pie and wine for mummies and daddies.

Christmas Dinner – Thursday 20 December
We shall be holding our Kids Inc traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings at the children’s usual lunch times. There will be Christmas crackers, party hats and plenty of Christmas cheer.

Christmas Tea Party – 3.00pm to 4.00pm, Friday 21 December
We will be having a special Christmas tea party with lots of yummy food and special visitors including John the Elf.

Christmas Jumper Day – Monday 24 December
To celebrate Christmas Eve and all things festive, all children and staff are invited to wear their Christmas jumpers.
