Kids Inc Day Nursery – East Sheen
April 2010
Dear Parents
Thank you to all parents who have completed and returned the allergy questionnaires included with February’s newsletter. Please could we remind you that all forms must be completed, signed and returned to us, whether or not your child has an allergy. You should also have received letters requesting up to date information with regards to telephone numbers, emergency contacts, etc. If you have not done so already, please could you provide the information requested as soon as possible, so that we can keep your child’s records up to date.
Activities and Celebrations
Children have recently been engaged in different cultural activities to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. They participated in badge making, sticking with shamrock and lots of other ‘green’ activities! For mothers’ day, the children stretched their imaginations and creativity skills to create beautiful cards for their mummies. We are sure that you will all agree that your children are very artistic and talented.
Easter
At the nursery, we all had a really fun Easter and the children were all very busy making Easter chicks, cards, bunnies, bonnets and baskets. Staff also made Easter bonnets; which were modelled for the children during one lunch time. To top this all off, we had an interesting Easter egg hunt, which the children thoroughly enjoyed
A big thank you to all the children and parents who supported our ‘Name the Easter Bunny Competition’ in aid of ‘The Young Ones Trust’ .We raised £39, with the winning name ‘Cuddles’. Congratulations to Tim, who chose the name and won the bunny!
Staffing
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new members of the staff team.
Justyna Giles (Senior Nursery Nurse) holds a Master of Arts degree in Educational Care and Therapy. She has also undertaken numerous other nursery related training courses, and has two years experience of working in a senior role.
Tatjana Bacholdina (Nursery Nurse) is qualified to NVQ Level2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, and has over five years experience of working in childcare.
Nursery Cook
It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye to our cook, Miriam, who has decided to hang up her oven gloves and make a career change.
We are delighted to inform you that the position of nursery cook has been taken over by Monica Roberts, who has over thirty years’ experience cooking for different sectors, including primary schools and nurseries.
Congratulations
Please join us in congratulating Shaista Khawar on successfully completing her Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. Well done Shaista!
Calpol
We would like to you all to bring in one 5ml sachet of Calpol, labelled with your child’s name, for use in case of an emergency. We will of course still contact you for permission prior to any Calpol being administered.
If we have to administer the Calpol sachet to your child, we would be grateful if this could be replaced as soon as possible thereafter.
Weather
As you are aware, the weather is turning much brighter. Please bring in sun cream, sunhats and appropriate clothing for your children, so that they are comfortable whilst out in the sun.
Birthday Party Invitations and Cakes
Whilst we are happy for you all to bring birthday party invitations into the nursery, we would be grateful if you could place them on children’s pegs or in their cubbies.
As you are aware, we cannot allow food to be brought into the nursery, but do let us know if you would like a birthday cake for your child to share with the other children in the nursery. Birthday cakes or special occasion cakes can be ordered for a fee of £10.
Planting Week
We are delighted that the warmer weather is now on its way and spring has finally arrived. Here at East Sheen, we are about to embark upon our exciting garden project. Children are naturally intrigued with nature, and developing and growing a fruit, herb and vegetable garden will enable the children to explore and develop their natural curiosity. Children will learn to sow, grow and harvest their own crops. There are many unique learning opportunities to engage your children, and therefore we would like to ask for your help.
Please could you provide your child with any vegetable/herb/fruit plant. We will be holding planting week from 17 May to 21 May. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
Kind regards.
Yours sincerely
Carolyn Moncrieffe
Nursery Manager
