Kids Inc Day Nursery – Beehive Lane, Ilford

April 2010

Dear Parents

First of all, a huge thanks to all of you who attended our cheese and wine evening in January.  We all had a lovely evening and hope you did too.  I would also like to thank those parents who attended our Valentine’s Day biscuit making.  The children had a great time making biscuits, and to be able to share this activity with family, was an added bonus for them.

A big welcome to our new children and parents who have recently joined us at Beehive Lane.  We hope that you have all settled in well and are looking forward to our up and coming events.  For those of you who are not aware, we have a parental involvement calendar.  Each month, we plan a date on which you as parents can attend and spend some time taking part in various activities, such as the recent biscuit making.  Do take a moment to look at our parental involvement calendar in reception.

Easter

BunnyAt the nursery, we all had a really fun Easter and the children were all very busy making Easter chicks, bunny masks, cakes and biscuits.  We also held an Easer egg hunt, which the children found very exciting.  Although the Ilford Recorder visited and took lots of photographs, they have not yet printed any in the paper, but we are hopeful that they will appear this week.

As well as the staff dressing up as Easter chicks and bunnies, the children made some fantastic bonnets for the Easter bonnet competition.  Congratulations to all the winners!

Peter Pan Week – 26 to 30 April 2010

Peter-PanDuring this week, Great Ormond Street Hospital are raising money by having a Peter Pan week.  On Friday 30 April 2010, we will be having our own Peter Pan dress up day.  Please could all children that attend on that day dress up as Peter Pan.  There’s no need to purchase an expensive dressing up outfit, a green t-shirt with green or brown leggings/tights will look great.

We would be grateful for donations of £2 for our fancy dress day.  We will also be selling Peter Pan cakes and biscuits to help raise more money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Breakfast Menu

ToasterWe have now introduced a new breakfast menu, so the children will be offered a greater variety to eat at breakfast time.  Our menu is displayed on our food and drink board in reception.  The children will have the choice of various cereals, a selection of fruit and toast, which will be available throughout breakfast time.  If you would like your child to have a hot breakfast, which is also on offer, please let the staff team in the room know, as the hot breakfasts are made to order.

Drive Way

We have had numerous complaints from parents regarding our driveway.  Please could we ask that as parents you all take responsibility for parking on the driveway with consideration for others.  If there is space ahead, please pull to the front of the drive way, leaving enough room for others to park behind you.  When collecting your child, please consider the amount of time you are spending in the nursery, as this can also cause a build up of traffic on the drive way.  If you would like to spend more time in the nursery speaking to the staff or management, then please could you use the side roads or the area in front of the buggy store.  This will ensure that you can spend as much time as you need without blocking the drive way.

Please could we also remind you that we have an entrance and an exit to the drive way.  We would be grateful if you could avoid any possible health and safety risks by using the entrance and exit correctly.

Staffing

StorkAs most of you are aware, Chantelle Jones will shortly be entering motherhood.  Chantelle’s last day at the nursery will be 30 April 2010.  We will be holding goodbye celebrations for Chantelle during the week beginning 26 April 2010.  This will give all children and parents the opportunity to wish Chantelle the best of luck and to say goodbye.

Accidents and Incidents

Broken-ArmPlease could we remind all parents to ensure that their children’s finger nails must be kept short with no sharp edges.  We are having an increasing number of scratches occurring in the nursery due to children’s nails being too long.

We would also like to remind you of the importance of informing us of incidents that happen at home.  We have a duty to write incident forms for all injuries that happen at home as well as at the nursery, for the purposes of record keeping.  Please inform a member of staff how and when the incident happened, and we will then have a form written for you to sign.

Main Entrance

Please could we remind all parents to ensure, when entering or leaving the building, that the main door is shut tightly in its frame and that you do not open the door to other parents.

Parent Consultation Meetings

Our next parent consultation meetings will be held during the week beginning 19 April 2020.  Please could we remind all parents that these meeting usually last for 10 to 15 minutes and will be held throughout the day from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Please ensure that you book your appointment with Emma Chapman, Emma Lachs or Sukhi Kaur.

Yours sincerely

Sarah Austin
